We had a unique experience when we went to Disneyland. One hour after arriving in California Jared was climbing up a ladder to get to the top of the bunkbed and fell and hit his left arm on the air conditioning vent that was sticking out of the wall next to the ladder. Gregg and I hurried and took him to the nearest emergency facility where we waited forever. There were a total of 3 patients in there -- a girl who had a migraine, another girl who had an inner ear infection and my screaming crying little boy with a broken arm. They took some x-rays and determined that it was indeed broken and that he would need to have surgery. So, Gregg went to the hotel room to be with the girls (who were crying because they thought they wouldn't be able to go to Disneyland) and I rode in the ambulance with Jared to the Childrens Hospital of Orange County where 30 minutes they performed surgery above his elbow. They put in six pins and I slept next to his hospital bed in a hospital recliner. The next morning when he woke up he said to me "Mom, I can't believe I broke my arm." It turned out that we were able to stay an extra day in the hotel room for free and we just postponed our Disneyland trip for a day. We went swimming the day he was released from the hospital and I kept giving Jared Tylenol with Codeine every 6-8 hours. It will always be a vacation that we look back on and laugh about. Although, it wasn't very funny at the time it happened. (These pictures are for you Chad).
